Internships for Sociology Majors and Criminology and Criminal Justice Majors

The Sociology, Criminology, and Justice Department at Cabrini University offers qualified junior and senior Sociology and Criminology and Criminal Justice majors the opportunity to complete an internship with cooperating or approved institutions.

Internships usually involve a 10-hour work commitment each week for a minimum of 120 hours per semester.

Students gain practical experience and learn about social institutions and social processes that influence social behavior.

The internship applies concepts and theories to real-life settings, bringing knowledge from the classroom into the field.

Students interested in the internship program must arrange a meeting with the Internship Coordinator the semester before they would like to do their internship:

  • prior to spring break for the fall semester
  • before the end of October for the spring semester

During the internship, students will track their hours, attend class meetings and discussions, read assignments, and keep a journal of daily occurrences, noting their roles and how these experiences relate to course work.

At the end of the internship, students write a final paper and present a 10-minute PowerPoint review.
