Katie A. Farina, PhD

Associate Professor, Criminology

Since joining the faculty in 2014, Katie Farina, PhD, has developed her instructional methods and course goals based on her students' needs.

These relationships influence her teaching and also aim to foster a classroom where students feel confident to voice their opinions.

Through a critical approach to literature,and practical application of a given field, Farina works to make certain student’s opinions are reasoned and analytical.

Farina’s research interests include juveniles, school climate, bullying, intersectionality, feminist criminology, and criminological theory.

Farina earned a doctoral degree in criminology at the University of Delaware, a master’s in criminology, law, and society at Villanova University and a bachelor’s at DeSales University.

She is a member of the American Society of Criminology and that organization’s Division of Women and Crime.
