Kimberly L. Boyd, PhD

Associate Professor, Biology
Dean for Retention and Student Success

After 14 years teaching general physiology, anatomy and physiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and various introductory biology courses for majors and non-majors in the Science Department, Dr. Boyd joined Academic Affairs.

She has served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and, most recently, the Associate Dean for Retention and Student Success, overseeing the University's Center for Student Success.

Her current research, in collaboration with Thomas Balshi, Ph.D., D.D.S., Glenn Wolfinger, D.M.D., and Stephen Balshi at Pi Dental Center in Fort Washington, Pa., looks at the short- and long-term impact of smoking on dental implant osseointegration.

Boyd earned a Bachelor of Science at The College of New Jersey, and a Doctorate in physiology from The University of Virginia.

She completed postdoctoral work at The University of California, Berkeley, where she studied ion-transport mechanisms controlling muscle contraction and gastric-acid secretion and served as a visiting researcher at Princeton University where her work focused on protein methylation as a mechanism to control cell division in normal and cancerous cells..

Areas of Expertise
