David Madway

Instructor, Mathematics

David Madway came to Cabrini College in 2013, after 32 years as owner of a commercial and residential building supply business. This business experience set the stage for a new career.

“I found my passion for teaching early in my business career,” he says.

“I realized that a good manager must be a good teacher. Over the years, I’ve learned the importance of mentoring, patience, tolerance, and persistence.”

Madway earned a Master of Business Administration in management and finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Franklin and Marshall College.

Cabrini College’s reputation in post-baccalaureate teacher training drew Madway to Cabrini, where he earned a certification in secondary mathematics education and a master’s degree in education in May 2014.

The dedication of the staff and faculty to student success provided him with a model for teaching excellence.

“The Cabrini faculty inspired me as a student, and they continue to inspire me as a teacher,” he says.

Upon completion of course work toward a certification at Cabrini, Madway was invited to join the Cabrini faculty as an adjunct in the Department of Mathematics.

When he completed his student-teaching assignment in seventh-grade math in the Upper Merion School District, he assumed a full-time role at the College.

“It is a privilege to join Cabrini College in the Department of Mathematics. I enjoy helping students understand why learning math is important and how it is used in their daily lives. Cabrini represents everything that is good about higher education: high-quality teaching in a caring environment,” he says.

He is a volunteer on the Institutional Review Board of the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research. He is an avid long-distance runner and has completed 15 marathons.
