Affiliate Agreements with Graduate and Professional Programs

Cabrini’s “3+3” and “3+2” affiliated Exercise Science and Health Promotion (Sports Science Track) programs offer students the potential to shorten the timeframe to complete their desired undergraduate and graduate or professional degrees by allowing them to apply to the affiliated programs a year early. Students are still required to satisfy all entrance requirements of the graduate or professional program and should understand that being accepted into one of these affiliate program tracks at Cabrini does not guarantee eventual acceptance into the graduate or professional program.

The non-accelerated, “4+3” and “4+2” affiliation agreements provide Cabrini students with a “preferred applicant” status as they move through the regular application process of the professional program. Some of our affiliate partners “save seats” in each year’s incoming class for Cabrini graduates. Please note, however, that this does not mean Cabrini students are guaranteed admission. Although Cabrini’s Exercise Science and Health Promotion program is designed to produce graduates who are well qualified to continue toward graduate and professional degrees, success for the student ultimately depends on their overall level of achievement within their undergraduate program.

The following are the programs with which Cabrini has entered into affiliation agreements:

Athletic Training (MS)

with Thomas Jefferson University

Cabrini University and Thomas Jefferson University have an articulation agreement that facilitates the matriculation of qualified Cabrini students into the Master’s in Athletic Training at Thomas Jefferson University.

There are two options for this affiliated program:

An accelerated 3+2 program providing Cabrini students the option of applying to the Athletic Training program in their junior year
A “preferred applicant” 4+2 program in which Cabrini students follow the traditional timeline of applying to the program in their senior year.

Requirements for a successful application to the Athletic Training program are:

A minimum overall 3.0 grade point average upon matriculation
At least "B-" in no less than 2 of the eleven (11) prerequisite courses
A combined average 3.0 GPA or higher in all prerequisite courses is an admission requirement (minimum grades of "B-'' in each course)
In order for the Admission Committee to review a candidate's application, final grades for prerequisite courses (including a minimum of 5 science courses) must be completed
Courses must be completed at Cabrini or must be approved by the Cabrini Program Coordinator
Prerequisites must be completed at a regionally accredited institution
All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to enrolling in the professional phase of the Athletic Training program

For the 3+2 program, at the successful completion of their first year in the Athletic Training program, students will be awarded their BS degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Cabrini (assuming the Cabrini core curriculum requirements have been met).

with Neumann University

Cabrini University and Neumann University have a preferred acceptance agreement that facilitates the matriculation of qualified Cabrini graduates with a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion/Sports Science Track into Neumann’s Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. For this agreement, students follow the traditional timeline and apply to the Athletic Training program in their senior year at Cabrini.

Requirements for a successful application to the Athletic Training program are:

Earn a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion - Sports Science Track with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.
Complete the following pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of "C":
- Anatomy Physiology I and II with labs
- Biology with lab
- Chemistry with lab
- Physics with lab
- Exercise Physiology
- Nutrition
- Psychology
- Statistics
Submit a statement of personal and professional goals to the Athletic Training Program Director at Neumann University (minimum one full page, double spaced, typed 12pt, Times New Roman).
Successfully complete an interview with the Athletic Training Program Director and/or Selection Committee at Neumann University. This interview should demonstrate the student's understanding of the profession, his/her specific career goals, and general verbal communication skills.
First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR certification or equivalent.
Completed Health Physical with proper immunizations, and submit the results to the Office of Health Services at Neumann University. (Additional fees may be required.)
Submit 3 letters of recommendation (One must be from an Athletic Trainer)
Document 100 hours of athletic training observation under supervision of an ATC
Present proof of membership in NATA.
For students from a non-English speaking country or for whom English is a second language, results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) must be submitted. The Athletic Training Program requires a minimum score of 84 on the TOEFL exam, with a minimum verbal subset score of 26

Physical Therapy (DPT)

with Widener University

Cabrini University and Widener University have an articulation agreement that facilitates the matriculation of qualiﬁed Cabrini students into the Physical Therapy doctoral program at Widener University.

There are two options for this affiliated program:

An accelerated 3+3 program providing Cabrini students the option of applying to the Physical Therapy program in their junior year
A 4+3 program in which Cabrini students follow the traditional timeline of applying to the program in their senior year.

Requirements for a successful application to the Physical Therapy program are:

PTCAS application
minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in all coursework, with a 3.3 or higher at the time of application
good academic record with no academic honesty violations
GRE score at or above 50^th percentile of participants
successful interview with the program’s admissions committee

For the 3+3 program, at the successful completion of their first year in the Physical Therapy program, students will be awarded their BS degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Cabrini (assuming the Cabrini core curriculum requirements have been met). Students should pursue the Sports Science track within the Exercise Science and Health Promotion major.

Occupational Therapy (MSOT)

with Gwynedd Mercy University

Cabrini University and Gwynedd Mercy University have an articulation agreement that facilitates the matriculation of qualified Cabrini students into the Master’s in Occupational Therapy program at Gwynedd Mercy University. As part of this agreement Gwynedd Mercy will guarantee an interview for the top three MSOT applicants from Cabrini University who meet the admissions criteria each year.

The list of admission pre-requisites (as listed on the Gwynedd Mercy website) for the MSOT program are:

Anatomy and Physiology I & II (with a laboratory component): 8 credits
General Psychology: 3 credits
Abnormal Psychology: 3 credits
Developmental (Lifespan) Psychology: 3 credits
Sociology/Anthropology: 3 credits
Statistics/Research Methods: 3 credits

Students may pursue any undergraduate major at Cabrini University as long as they take these pre-requisite courses.

Public Health (MPH)

with Gwynedd Mercy University

Cabrini University and Gwynedd Mercy University have an articulation agreement that facilitates the matriculation of qualified Cabrini students into the Master’s in Public Health program at Gwynedd Mercy University. As part of this agreement Gwynedd Mercy will provide Cabrini students an expedited review by the MPH program admission committee and guaranteed admission to the program, provided all admission criteria have been met.

Students may pursue any undergraduate major at Cabrini University.

Additional Information

Although entrance requirements vary from one professional school to another, there are three general requirements requested by these schools that will enhance the strength of student applications:

strong academic success in required courses
a strong background in liberal arts education
and involvement in a variety of related professional and social activities
