Dr. Carolyn L. Berenato

Dr. Carolyn L. Berenato is an assistant professor and chair of the Educational Specialist Department at Cabrini University. Dr. Berenato teaches in the Educational Specialist Department, as well as the Educational Policy and Leadership Department. Prior to her arriving at Cabrini University in August 2019, Dr. Berenato was an assistant professor in the Special Education Department at Saint Joseph’s University, where she taught courses on literacy and special education as well as special education law and administration. From 2003-2009, she also served as an elementary principal, middle school assistant principal, and a literacy coach for the Upper Darby School District. Prior to her working in the Upper Darby School District, she worked in parochial schools as an elementary teacher and a reading specialist in the Philadelphia area.

Dr. Berenato’s research focuses on K-12 and higher education settings with a concentration on learning environments. Learning environments such as online and face to face classrooms, educational landscape such as a museum, and educational equity. Dr. Berenato received her B.A. in art history from Rosemont College, an M.S. in elementary education, an M.S. in the reading specialist program, and an M.S. in special education from Saint Joseph’s University, and her Ed.D. in educational leadership from Saint Joseph’s University.
