Social Work Abstracts provides citations and abstracts for the leading social work and human services journals, many with links to full text. Produced by the National Association of Social Workers, this database covers such subjects as addiction, education, mental health, therapy, child and family welfare and more. Both theoretical and practical aspects are covered throughout the database. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and SocIndex by clicking "Choose Databases."

SocINDEX with Full Text

SocIndex with Full Text provides full text access to hundreds of journals, books and conference papers. Citations and abstracts are provided for many more, and these can be requested in full text through interlibrary loan. Primarily a sociology database, SocIndex also covers the leading journals in related fields such as criminology and criminal justice, demography, religion, social work, socio-cultural anthropology, political sociology, social psychology and the list goes on. This database can be searched in conjunction with other databases such as Academic Search Premier, Social Work Abstracts, or PsycARTICLES by clicking "Choose Databases."

Published by the National Association of Social Workers in conjunction with Oxford University Press, The Encyclopedia of Social Work provides brief articles on and overviews of topics important to the social work field. Each article is cross-referenced and also includes a bibliography of primary sources and related scholarly works. Brief biographies of key figures in the history of social work are also provided. This resource is also available in print in our reference collection (Ref HV12 .E53 2008).

Mental Measurements Yearbook

Mental Measurements Yearbook is a comprehensive guide to contemporary testing instruments in such fields as psychology, education, business and leadership. Select a testing category or publication date under "Limit your results" for more relevant search results. PsycARTICLES is the premier database for access to full text articles from scholarly and scientific psychology journals. Limit your results by population group and characteristics for more relevant results. This database uses the APA's Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms; select "Thesaurus" at the top of the screen for searchable and browsable access. You can also search PsycARTICLES in conjunction with PsycINFO and Academic Search Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."


PsycINFO provides citations and abstracts for millions of journals articles, books, book chapters and dissertations in psychology, many with links to the full text of the document. The psychological aspects of other disciplines are also covered such as pharmacology, linguistics, sociology and education. You can also search PsycINFO in conjunction with PsycARTICLES and Academic Search Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."


Statisa is a statistics portal that provides data on over 80,000 topics from more than 10,000 different sources including agriculture, advertising, health, hospitality, and consumer goods. The content is geared towards business and marketing statistical needs, with a focus on current (not historical) statistics. Ready made tables are available for downloading.

ACA: American Counseling Association

The website for the American Counseling Association provides access to their publication Counseling Today to non-members, as well as information about the ethics of counseling and job searching. A Counseling Directory, which allows you to search for a counselor by location, name and specialty, is also available.

National Association of Social Workers

The official website of the National Association of Social Workers has many features that are available to non-members such as:  a managed care directory, NASW JobLink, links to local NASW chapters, and links to other relevant and/or scholarly resources on the web.
