Subject Specific Databases

Communication & Mass Media Complete

This database combines the content of CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index, two of the premier indexes for communications journals. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

Humanities International Index

Humanities International Index provides citations and abstracts to articles, essays, reviews and other reference sources in the humanities. You can limit your search results to only full text items by checking the "Linked Full Text" box on the advanced search screen. All other articles can be requested through interlibrary loan. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier or other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

General/Related Databases

Academic Search Premier

This multidisciplinary database is a good place to start your research. For extra search capabilities, click "Choose Databases" and select more subject specific databases to simultaneously search.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center provides full-text coverage of current social issues. The main goal is to provide a balance of opinions on these issues through original pro and con articles, articles from academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers, podcasts, statistics and more. Browse popular topics or search by keyword. When searching use the advances search to limit your results to peer-reviewed publications or to the intermediate or advanced content level. Opposing Viewpoints is also a series that we carry in print; add "opposing viewpoints" in the series box in your Cavalog searches to find relevant materials in print.

ProQuest Research Library

ProQuest Research Library provides citations and/or full-text access to 3,000+ scholarly journals and magazines in a wide range of subject areas. In addition to general interest publications, the database covers the Arts, Business, Children, Education, Health, Humanities, Law, Military, International and Multicultural interests, Psychology, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Women's Interests.

WorldCat

Use WorldCat to find books about a research topic that are not available at Holy Spirit Library. Search by title or author if you are looking for something specific, or search by keyword or subject to find something new. Click "Borrow this item from another library" to request a book from another library.
