Network Infrastructure
The vast majority of the network wiring on campus is Category 5E implemented in a hybrid configuration. Each office, classroom, laboratory, residence hall and public space has at least one network jack per person. These jacks are connected to Ethernet switches to provide each person with a 10 and 100 Mbps connections to the network.

Each building on campus is interconnected via a mixed 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps) fiber-optic backbone. We are constantly reevaluating the existing fiber backbone and making adjustments as necessary to provide the campus community with a faster, more reliable and robust network.

We access the internet via a 10 Mbps ethernet line from Yipes. This direct ethernet service also gives us the ability to host many of our critical network and server systems on Drexel University's campus, bringing reliablity and server up-time to much higher levels than ever before.
