Web Publishing with WS_FTP Pro (Windows)

To upload/publish your web pages using WS_FTP Pro, please follow the steps detailed below. We have provided screenshots wherever possible. This program is not offered as a free download through ITR, however these instructions are provided for those of you who may have purchased this program on your own.

  1. Open the WS_FTP Pro program. If this is your first time opening the program you will automatically be taken to the connection wizard. If you have used the program before you will need to click on the Connection Wizard icon.




  2. In the Connection Wizard, give your site a name. (Ex. My Cabrini site, Joe's website, Site for Graphics Class). Click Next.


  3. Next, type in your username and password to connect to your web folder. This is the same username and password you use to logon to campus computers. Click Next.


  4. To ensure a secure connection to your webfolder, choose SFTP. Click Next.


  5. BEFORE YOU CHOOSE FINISH, please click the Advanced button.


  6. In the remote site folder box type the word web. This tells the program to go directly to your web folder. Click OK.


  7. You can now click the Finish button.
  8. You should now see the contents of your web folder in the right hand portion of your screen. The left side of the screen shows the contents of your personal computer. Click and drag files from the left side (your PC) to the right side (your webspace) to publish your pages, pictures and other content.
