Connecting Your Macintosh running OSX to the Campus Network
Ethernet Cables
To connect your Mac to the campus ethernet from one of the campus buildings you will need an ethernet cable, and an ethernet jack, which has been properly installed by ITR Networking staff and is turned ON.
Connecting to the Network
For various reasons, your Mac may not have been connected to the network when it was set up (i.e. the jack is being converted to ethernet, no ethernet cable was provided) and you will have to configure the network components.
Configure Network Components
- Access the “Network” System Preference panel, which is found by navigating to the apple menu on the top left corner of your screen. Click on the apple icon, and follow the menu to the “System Preferences.”
- Be sure that the following settings are reflected in the Network System Preference panel:
- Location: Use default or create a new one and name it
- Show: Built-in Ethernet
- Under the TCP/IP tab:
- Configure: Using DHCP
- All other settings leave blank or at the default

- Under the Proxies tab:
- Click the “Apply Now” button and close the Network System Preference panel to SAVE the changes that have been made.
- You should now be able to access the campus Ethernet.
