Accessing your H: Drive Off Campus with WinSCP (Windows)

To access your H: drive off campus using WinSCP, please follow the steps detailed below. We have provided screenshots wherever possible. This program is a free download accessible from the ITR downloads site. Below are instructions on how to use the program.

  1. Open the WinSCP program. If this is your first time opening the program you will automatically be prompted to create a session. For the host name type pages.cabrini.edu, fill in your username and password (the same you use to login to campus computers), and choose SFTP as the appropriate protocol.

  2. Click Save. This will save all the information you just entered for next time you start the program. Click Login to start the session.

  3. Next, you will get prompted to choose whether or not you wish to have your password saved by the session. Choose OK to save the password for next time or cancel to get prompted for your password each time you run the session.

  4. Now give your session a name. You can leave the session name as the default name the program suggests or you can give it your own title. (Ex. My Cabrini H: drive, HDrive, etc.) Click OK.

  5. If this is the first time connecting to your Cabrini H: drive through WinSCP you will get prompted to add the server's host key to cache. Click Yes to add the key.

  6. You should now be connected and see the contents of your H: drive in the right hand portion of your screen. The left side of the screen shows the contents of your personal computer. Click and drag files from the left side (your PC) to the right side (your H: drive) to upload your files, pictures and other content.

If you are still having trouble connecting after following these directions, please contact the help desk at 610-902-8366 and one of our staff will be more than happy to help.
