How to Reset Your Password

I know my password and want to reset it

To reset either password or both passwords

  1. Go to https://accounts.cabrini.edu
  2. Log in with your username (like abc123) and CabriniOne password.
  3. Click Continue
  4. Reset each of the two passwords separately using the little keys next to your account names. Do not use the big key at the top of the page unless you know for sure that your passwords already are the same one.. The little keys are located next to each of your accounts in the table at the bottom of the page.

To reset ONLY your domain password on-campus

If you're logged into a computer on-campus, you can press the CTRL, ALT, and DEL keys simultaneously and select Change a password. Enter your old password once, then the new password twice.

I forgot my password or can't log into the library databases

To reset all your passwords at once

  1. Go to https://accounts.cabrini.edu
  2. Click the Help! I forgot my password link underneath the Sign in button to reset all your passwords. Do not log in.
  3. Enter your College ID number, date of birth, last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, CabriniOne username (such as abc123) and permanent address zip code OR country of origin and click OK.
  4. Answer your security question or choose a security question and answer if you didn't already have one set up. When you use the password reset service, you need to type the answer exactly.
  5. The system will provide a password for you; you can keep that one or delete that password and enter your own in.

I want to set up the Password Reset Service for future use

  1. Go to https://accounts.cabrini.edu
  2. Log in with your username (like abc123) and CabriniOne password.
  3. Click Continue
  4. Click the Setup or Change your settings button at the top of the page.
  5. Choose a question from the drop-down menu. You can also choose More for more questions, or choose More and Enter your own question.
  6. Type the answer to your selected question. When you use the password reset service in the future, you will need to type this answer exactly.
  7. Click the Submit Form button to finish setting up your password reset service for future use.

Explanation of Passwords and Accounts

Do I use the same User ID and password for all Cabrini systems?

Your Cabrini User ID (also known as a username) is the same for all Cabrini systems, but you have separate passwords for your CabriniOne and domain accounts, which serve different functions and have their own different password expiration policies.

CabriniOne password is used for: Domain password is used for:
CabriniOne Library databases off-campus
Cabrini Learn / CabriniVision Meal plan system (inside of CabriniVision)
Computers Accounts Management Service Logging into computers on-campus
Cabrini Webmail Exchange email for faculty and staff
Wired internet registration (ResNet) Wireless internet registration
Photo Class List Online applications; downloading Symantec antivirus from the Cabrini web site
Hyperion Network Storage / Mapped Drives using Filezilla

Business application users may also have a Banner or Web*Financials account, which has its own separate password.

Why do I need to reset my password?

College policy dictates that your domain password expire every 90 days, while your CabriniOne password does not expire.

How do I know when my domain password will expire?

Those logged into a Windows Cabrini computer will receive a log-on warning two weeks in advance. Students also receive an email a couple days before the password expires, informing them that the password will need to be reset soon.

Choosing a Password

For reasons of privacy and security, the password you choose should be as strong as you can make it. The following criteria may help:

  • It should have a minimum of eight characters.
  • It should contain a number or symbol in the middle of the password, surrounded by at least two letters (e.g., Aliens3 is not acceptable but Al!ens3 is, because the "!" breaks up the alphabetic string. The final "3" doesn't count because it does not interrupt the alphabetic string.)
  • It should NOT contain a string of characters which, read forward or backward, comprises your name, part of your name, your initials, a nickname commonly associated with your name (e.g., "jim" for "james"), your birthdate, or your social security number.
  • It should NOT contain a string of characters which comprises an item listed in an unabridged dictionary, or in the "most cracked passwords" file.
  • It should differ from all of your previous Cabrini passwords by at least three characters.

Errors and Problems

I received an error about not being on file or no longer being affiliated with the college

If you were trying to reset your password, you may need to type in a different zip code or remove the @cabrini.edu from the user-id field in order to use the Password Reset Wizard.

I received an error that there don't appear to be any accounts waiting for me to pick up

If you were previously affiliated with the college, your accounts still exist and you just need your password reset. If you don't remember your login credentials, please call ITR.
