Expendable Scholarships

Expendable scholarships are distributed in the same year that they are received and may support a designated area or be unrestricted to support the greatest need.

For donors who want to support scholarships for Cabrini students but don’t have a goal of creating a specific, permanent award, these scholarship opportunities are an ideal option.

These scholarships are awarded on a financial basis through our Financial Aid Department.

You can make a contribution to any of these existing funds. You can also establish your own scholarship fund to support students at Cabrini.

AICUP UPS Scholarship

Funded by the UPS Foundation, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP) provides this scholarship annually to each of its member schools.

Balshi Book Award

Established by Cabrini Associate Professor, Dr. Kimberly Boyd, and named for Dr. Thomas Balshi and Joanne Balshi (’69), this award is designed to assist English or Science students who need financial help in purchasing textbooks.

Bridge to Success Scholarship

Established in 2019, this short-term fund assists students who otherwise may not be able to remain at Cabrini due to a temporary financial gap.

Comcast Communications Scholarship

The Comcast Communications Scholarship was established by Comcast Cable and is awarded to a student who is majoring in communication.

IME Becas Scholarships

Established in 2018 with the generous support of the Mexican Government and the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia, IME-Becas Scholarship supports students of Mexican heritage.

John and Linda Heiberger Study Abroad Award

This award was made possible through a generous gift from John Heiberger, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Business Department, to promote study abroad opportunities for Cabrini business majors.

In the idea of paying it forward, Heiberger encourages the students receiving this award to consider personally supporting similar projects at Cabrini after graduation.

Maguire Nursing Scholars Program

James Maguire and The Maguire Foundation established the Maguire Nursing Scholars program to provide generous need-based scholarships to deserving students in Cabrini’s Nursing Program. Maguire scholarships continue for four years based on good academic standing and active participation in volunteer and extracurricular activities.

Main Line Chamber of Commerce – Gold Leaf Scholarship

The Main Line Chamber of Commerce awards this generous scholarship to a female undergraduate or graduate student residing in Chester, Delaware or Montgomery county who demonstrates leadership qualities and financial need.

Media Chapter of UNICO National Scholarship

The Media Chapter of UNICO National is an organization that works to support individuals who share their philosophy of “Service Above Self.” This scholarship is awarded to a student who embodies this characteristic.

Mother Cabrini League

This scholarship was established through the generosity of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the members of the Mother Cabrini League to assist deserving students who would otherwise be deprived of a higher education.

Newcombe Scholars

The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation funded the Newcombe Scholars Program to assist full- and part-time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, qualify for accessibility services through Cabrini’s Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), and meet other academic criteria.

Pearse Construction Study Abroad Scholarship

The Pearse Construction Study Abroad Scholarship was established in 2014 by Pearse McAleese and Erin McLaughlin, PhD.

Mr. McAleese, a native of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, is the owner of Pearse Construction in West Chester, PA.

He is married to Erin McLaughlin, PhD, business department chair at Cabrini. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate business major in good standing.

Philopatrian Scholarship

The Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute founded this scholarship in the 1950s to promote a Catholic education.

This scholarship is awarded on a rotating schedule to eight area Catholic colleges and universities to a student of Catholic faith who exemplifies commitment to academic success.

Mark P. Picard Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Mark P. Picard, late husband of Sara Picard (’98), who encouraged Sara to attain her degree and launch her own business as a healthcare insurance provider.

This scholarship will be awarded annually on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate student in good standing, with a preference for a student who intends to or is majoring in business administration or accounting; or to a student from a single-parent household because of the death of a parent.

The Pierce Fellows Foundation

This fellowship is granted to student leaders working to address hunger and food insecurity and was established through a grant from the Leo and Peggy Pierce Family Foundation.

W.W. Smith Scholarship

The W.W. Smith Charitable Trust Scholarship was established by a bequest in the will of William Wikoff Smith, former president and CEO of Kewanee Industries, who died in 1976.

It was the intention of Mr. Smith to support students in the Delaware Valley.

He was extremely dedicated to this area and generously gave his resources to benefit those who live and work here. He hoped to pass on to future generations the importance of education, giving to others, and supporting the community.
