Useful websites to solidify your understanding of concepts and to practice your skills:

Your textbook Website - this website is designed for your textbook.  The home page will give you several choices including Web Links and TEC. 

  1. WebLinks - The top of the Web Links page contains a pull-down box to select a chapter. Once you have selected a chapter you will see links to several websites designed to enhance your learning.  Please note that some of these sites will require you to download plug-ins such as LiveMath. 
  2. TEC - Tools for Enriching Calculus - is an online tutorial website designed for your textbook.  This site contains audio explanation of concepts, examples, instruction and homework help.  To operate this site you will need to download Java 3D.

Functions
What is a Function? - an online tutorial for the algebraic, numerical, graphical, and verbal definition of a function. This site also includes a practice drill for defining the range of a function.
How do you find the inverse of a function? - a site that defines the inverse of a function.  You will also learn how to find the inverse of a function by switching x and y values and then solving this expression for y. The site gives step-by-step solutions for finding the inverse of several common functions. Note: some problems in this website require the use of  LiveMath; you may need to download this program from this site to have full use of the site.

Derivatives

    • Tutorials for the Calculus Phobe - from this website you can link to videos to help you better understand Limits and Continuity & Finding Derivatives.
    • Want practice taking derivatives?  Use this website to practice calculating derivatives. On the left hand-side of this website just click on the type of problem you would like to practice (polynomials, cosine, sine, logarithms, etc.) and a problem will appear. Try your best to solve the problem, then click on Show the Derivative to see a step by step solution. Keep clicking on Give Me Another One to get more problems.
    • Do you have a derivative problem you just can't seem to solve? This website might help. The Step-by-Step Derivatives website by webMathematica allows you to input any expression and take the derivative with respect to the variable you define. Plug-in your problem (following the website's format) and click on Do it! to see a step-by-step solution.

Solving Quadratic Equations
Can't figure out how to solve a quadratic equation? - This Quick Math website - will show you how to solve quadratic equations by factoring, completing the square, or using the quadratic equation. This portion of the site does give you step-by-step instructions for solving quadratic equations.  The site will also help you solve inequalities and matrices. 

Multiplying and Dividing Polynomials

    • Need help multiplying polynomials?
      This website by webMathematica will give you step-by step solutions to any polynomial problem you plug-in. Type in your problem and click on Do it! to see a step-by-step solution.
    • Need help dividing polynomials?
      This website by webMathematica will give you step-by step solutions to any polynomial problem you plug-in. Type in your problem and click on Do it! to see a step-by-step solution.

Graphing Equations
What does that function look like? Click here to go to the Quick Math website where you can plug in an equation, give a domain and range, and the site will graph the equation for you - after inputting your information just click PLOT.  To print your graph, highlight the graph, click CTRL C, and then paste this into a Word document.
