QUALITIES OF A LIBERALLY EDUCATED PERSON


Preamble
Cabrini College is part of the international network of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart created by the global vision of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. The apostolic priorities of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart include working for peace and justice, working against poverty and oppression, promoting personal and interpersonal growth, and increasing compassionate concern for all human beings. Based upon the mission of the College, Cabrini provides educational programs that recognize and seek to develop skills and values necessary to support and sustain a mature commitment to these objectives.

A. Critical Thinking and Aesthetic Appreciation
· Reasons well, inductively and deductively, both in reading andwriting.
· Displays effective analytic and synthetic skills both in oral and written form.
· Solves problems effectively through logical reasoning, scientific methodology or quantitative reasoning.
· Demonstrates familiarity with ways in which high technology aids problem solving, decision making, research, and productivity.
· Evaluates a variety of art forms from a critical perspective.
· Displays imagination and creativity.

B. Understanding of Self and Others
· Has a well developed sense of self, including personal strengths and weaknesses. Can use this self-awareness to foster objectivity in understanding others.
· Demonstrates a critical and objective understanding of American society.
· Demonstrates a critical and objective understanding of society beyond the North American and European traditions.
· Integrates knowledge of self, society and the world to arrive at a well-founded perspective on contemporary issues.
