Chris • intern • United States Liability Insurance Group
Christopher Blake will be graduating in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with minors in business administration and Spanish from Cabrini College. He has spent one year on the Cabrini College Loquitur, an award-winning weekly student-run publication, as a staff writer and assistant news editor. During the summer of 2007 he interned at Burns & Wilcox of San Francisco, part of North America's largest independently owned insurance wholesaler. While there he undertook a wide variety of data management projects, provided support for an ongoing office marketing campaign, helped developed content for an office website and worked directly with customers and employees in various branch offices. Chris interned at United States Liability Insurance Group twice, during the spring of 2007 and the fall of 2007. At USLI he promoted good customer service relations, processed customer requests for binding, conducted application reviews, and communicated ideas for procedural and workflow improvements. He has been a member of the Cabrini men’s basketball team for two years. Prior to his own team’s games he has been a radio announcer during the Cabrini College women’s basketball games providing play-by-play analysis. He hopes to earn a position as a full-time editor on the Loquitur staff in the year 2008. Along with his great passion as a writer he hopes to explore the communication fields of television and radio in the future. He plans to write for the Main Line Times newspaper as a free lance writer beginning in the fall of 2008.

Liz • intern • NBC10
Liz will be graduating in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication from Cabrini College. She spent one year as a staff writer on her college's student-run weekly newspaper and is currently serves as deputy editor. She is also actively involved in her college's video and radio departments. Her spring internship is with NBC10, on the 10! Show, a daily live program that airs in the Philadelphia area. By the end of her internship, Liz hopes to have gained experience working in live television as well as in web editing. After college Liz plans to pursue a career using her multimedia skills at a top-market station.

Christy • advertising sales intern • Philadelphia magazine
Christy is a junior English and communication major at Cabrini College. Christy is very interested in pursuing a career in advertising upon graduation from Cabrini next May. During her time at Cabrini, Christy works as a student ambassador in the admissions office, conducting tours for prospective students. Christy is also a staff writer for the award-winning student-run weekly newspaper. This spring Christy is working as an advertising sales intern at Philadelphia magazine. At the magazine Christy develops and proofs advertisements for the upcoming issues, prepares media kits and takes leads for prospective advertisers.

Maria • editorial intern • Merion Publications
Maria will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Cabrini College. She spent two years working on her college's student-run weekly newspaper as a staff writer and managing editor. Her spring internship is a continuation of her fall internship, still working with Merion Publications, the company behind "Advance Newsmagazines." After working closely with the editors of both "Advance for Nurses" and "Healthy Aging," she is now working with "Healthy Aging" on Buyers Guides, product reviews, case studies and acquisitions and utilizing her writing, editing, design and organizational skills. By the end of Maria's internship, she hopes to add more bylines in print and on the web to her portfolio. Previously, Maria has worked for Montgomery Newspapers and the American Academy of Pediatrics for Spanish translation and editing. After graduation, Maria plans to pursue a career in editing, for either English- or Spanish-based media.

Christine • editorial intern • Philadelphia Business Journal
Christine graduated in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication. After dedicating the first three years of her college career to radio and the music industry, she decided to focus mainly on the field of journalism. Her past communication experience consists of interning then gaining a paid position at the Friday Morning Quarterback, having an editorial internship with the Press of Atlantic City and serving as a music director and on-air personality at Cabrini College's radio station WYBF. She also spent two years working on Cabrini College's newspaper, The Loquitur, as a staff writer and then an editor of arts and entertainment. This fall, Christine has an editorial internship position with the Philadelphia Business Journal. Christine brings her knowledge of reporting, writing, editing and interviewing skills to the newspaper. By the end of Christine's internship, she had more clips to add to her portfolio and networked with many of the business leaders in the Philadelphia region. Upon graduation, Christine decided she’d rather start a career in the music industry than sit in newsrooms and read the AP Stylebook over and over again. So she moved up to Boston and now devotes her time to the press department at The Planetary Group and perfecting her cooking skills.

Jillian • writer • ICON Clinical Research in the Scientific Communications Department
Jillian Milam will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication from Cabrini College. She served one year as a staff writer and one year as an editor for her college’s weekly newspaper. Jillian will be utilizing the writing and editing skills she acquired at Cabrini College for her internship with ICON Clinical Research in the Scientific Communications Department. She will assist a team of writers in developing sales content, such as executive biographies and experience sections, for inquiring pharmaceutical companies. In addition, she will partake in responding to requests for information and/or proposals with research, writing and preparation. She will use the spring 2007 semester as an extension of her internship and will continue to play an integral role in managing deliverables. By the end of this internship, she hopes to have gained valuable experience that will enable her to become a contributing member of a corporation within a business development capacity. After graduation, Jillian plans to further her education at Graduate School while continuing her career in Scientific Communication Writing.

Melissa • public relations intern • Devine & Powers Communications Group
Melissa will be graduating from Cabrini College in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication. Melissa came to Cabrini looking to pursue a career in the radio industry, but then made the switch from radio to journalism her sophomore year. She spent two years on her college's student-run weekly newspaper as a staff writer and editor of the perspectives section. After she finished working on the paper, she decided to get experience outside of the classroom to improve her writing skills. In the summer of 2006 she accepted an internship at The American College, a financial services college, in the public relations department. While there she strengthened her abilities to write articles about financial services and business topics. After working in public relations, Melissa interned at the Main Line Times for the Fall 2006 semester. At the newspaper she worked closely with the managing editor, wrote articles and was able to participate in producing a weekly newspaper that served the Main Line. This semester she will once again be working in public relations at Devine & Powers Communications Group, the fastest growing public relations firm in Philadelphia. Melissa is eager to experience working with a company that has many exciting clients and who will give her the opportunity to use her knowledge she has gained from both the classroom and her past internships. After graduation she plans to pursue a career in either journalism or public relations.

Laura • public relations intern • Dorland Global Health Communications
Laura will be graduating in May 2007 with Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication from Cabrini College. She spent two years working on her college's student-run weekly newspaper as a staff writer and news section editor. She has been interning for Dorland Global Health Communications, the nation’s number one healthcare agency according to the 2006 Holmes Report, since August 2006 and will continue through May. Dorland Public Relations is a full service agency providing professional and consumer public relations for many brand-leading pharmaceuticals. She will be working closely with the account executives of the Proctor & Gamble – Actonel team by utilizing her marketing communications knowledge, writing, editing, project management and organizational skills. This semester Laura will focus more on client relationships and strategic PR planning. By the end of Laura's internship, she hopes to add more account coordination pieces to her portfolio. Previously, Laura has worked within the consumer public relations office at The Star Group. After graduation, Laura plans to pursue a career at a top public relations agency.

Shane • website intern • Philadelphia Eagles
Shane in his third year at Cabrini College majoring in English and communication, concentrating mainly on journalism and reporting. Since September of 2005, he has been working with the Philadelphia Eagles as an intern with their website, PhiladelphiaEagles.com. Working directly with the players and coaches on the team, Shane has produced over 50 published stories on the nationally acclaimed and award-winning website. From interviewing the players one-on-one to covering the games from the press box of Lincoln Financial Field (Shane attended every home game of the 2005 season and two road games (Arizona and New York)), the work he has been doing has been a dream come true for this diehard Eagles fan and current employee. Making appearances in the locker room is a daily task for Shane and he couldn’t be happier. The experience of working with such a first-class organization has led Shane to pursue employment with the Eagles after he graduates in the spring of 2008, and with the growing importance of the web and how influential the Eagles website has been over the last three of four years, staying on with the organization is a very real possibility. At Cabrini, Shane is going into his second year as the web editor of the Loquitur and considers himself an amateur graphic designer, one who created the new flag for the paper, among other illustrations.

Meghan • Development and public relations intern • Catholic Relief Services
Meghan will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication from Cabrini College. She has spent one year as a staff writer for her college’s student-run weekly newspaper and currently serves as the writing coach and web editor. Her fall internship was with Laurel House, a non-profit organization that advocates and runs an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Her spring internship is with Catholic Relief Services Northeast Regional Office. She will be helping to develop strategies for advancing collaborations with various groups in the region by researching CRS issues. She will be working to develop resources and strategies for education and engagement to help introduce groups in the region to CRS and to global social justice issues. By the end of her internship, Meghan hopes to have real work experience and have pieces to add to her portfolio. She also hopes to gain knowledge on how non-profits function and on advocating for issues of social justice. After graduation, Meghan plans to pursue a career in the non-profit sector, nationally or internationally, helping to promote and advocate for humanitarian causes.

Daina • public relations intern • Cabrini Mission Corps
Daina will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication. She has devoted two years to Cabrini College’s student-run newspaper as a staff writer, and has assumed a leadership role as the perspectives editor. She has previously volunteered as an intern in public relations for Millennium Radio Group and as a paid copydesk editor for The Press of Atlantic City. Her current position with Cabrini Mission Corps relates closely to her personal mission, which is to use her communication talents to promote and spread a message of goodness in the world and the good works that can be accomplished. She will be spending her internship with CMC aiding in the total reconstruction of the media that communicates the good works of The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, including a website, newsletters, and a media kit. After graduation, she plans to move to Atlantic City and pursue a career in public relations or news media, and to always find a way to promote social justice.

Gail Katherine • Marketing communication intern • Cabrini College
Gail is a senior English and communications major at Cabrini College. Gail is a French tutor, Student Ambassador, member of the national Society for Collegiate Journalists honor society, former writer for The Loquitur and former member for World Watch Wednesdays. She is currently interning at Cabrini's Marketing and communications office. She hopes to gain media relations knowledge as well as continue developing her skills targeting particular audiences in publications for the college. Gail will graduate in May of 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, she hopes to attend graduate school or work as an event coordinator.

Stan • Assistant Video Coordinator • Springfield School District
Stan will be graduating in May 2007. He has been working at the Springfield School District since 2002. He videotapes and edits all of the school events that are broadcasted throughout the district community. He has trained new employees and given sessions to teach new employees to use the equipment. Stan hopes that this experience will help launch him into perhaps a teaching position in the video department of a school district, or in the news/broadcasting field as a camera operator, technical director or video engineer. Stan’s ideal job would be a challenging position allowing for on-location shoots and hands-on experiences.

Sharon • Marketing Intern • Comcast Sports Net
Sharon will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from Cabrini College. She spent a year as a staff writer and an assistant editor working on Cabrini College’s newspaper, The Loquitur. She launched a newsletter called World Watch Wednesdays, a newsletter informing the community about national and domestic issues. During her junior year, she received an internship offer from Comcast-Spectacor at the Wachovia Center. She spent her spring semester as a college-marketing director where she helped promote the Philadelphia Wings on Cabrini’s campus. She also had to market upcoming events at the Wachovia Complex at Flyers and Sixers games, and public relations events. She gained knowledge and skills in ticket sales, trades, marketing, public relations, and promoting group rates. In the fall semester, she interned with the Philadelphia Kixx Men’s Indoor soccer team. She hopes to apply her knowledge from her previous internships and apply her skills with her current internship position to promote the company. She looks forward furthering her knowledge in the field o marketing. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in public relations or marketing in the sports or entertainment industry. She also hopes to earn a master’s degree in business or marketing.

Kira • Promotions Intern • Wired 96.5
Kira will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication. Her fall internship is working with Wired 96.5, one of the top radio stations in Philadelphia, in the Promotions Department. She will be working closely with Wired 96.5’s “street team” by using her organizational, creative, and communication skills. By the end of Kira’s internship, she hopes to gain more experience and contacts to help her excel in the Music Industry. Kira has previously had an internship with Coffee House Tour, which is an online business for freelance artists. After graduation Kira plans to move to New York to pursue a career in the Music Industry.

Jeremy • Video Services Intern • Springfield School District
Jeremy will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communication from Cabrini College. He has been concentrated on video in the Communications program since Sophomore year. During the summer of 2006 he was a production intern at Renegade Productions located in Hunt Valley, Maryland close to his home. Currently Jeremy is a Video Intern at Springfield School District in Springfield, PA. He works with Stan Hitchins, another English and Communication student, shooting and editing educational programming for the district community. After graduation Jeremy hopes to pursue a career in video production or possibly teaching video in a public school.

Dave • Media Specialist • Crozer Chester Medical Center
Dave will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication from Cabrini College. Throughout his time at Cabrini, Dave has been concentrating on video production, but has also spent time working for the radio station and writing for the college newspaper, Loquitur. Last summer, Dave spent eight weeks teaching 5th-8th graders videography at a summer camp held at Cabrini. Currently Dave is interning at Crozer Chester Medical Center as a media specialist. After graduation, Dave has plans to attend film school and study to become a director but before that he is going to backpack through Europe and get a glimpse of the rest of the world.

Tunomukwathi • marketing intern • Main Line Life
My name is Tunomukwathi Asino. I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in English and Communication in May 2007 from Cabrini College. During my time at Cabrini College I wrote for the college's weekly newspaper, The Loquitur. In the summer of 2006, I served as an intern reporter at The Suburban & Wayne Times, a weekly newspaper in Wayne Pa. I am currently a marketing intern at Main Line Life, Wynnewood, Pa. I decided to get a marketing internship because I understand the delicate balance of readership versus advertising. I also wanted to try something new. I am currently looking at graduate programs, but I plan on going home during the summer first, to Namibia. After college I plan to pursue a career in writing and translating French. After my internship at Main Line Life, I plan to get experience in sales and advertising in order to be a well-rounded media professional.

Ginger • video intern • Evolve Strategies
Ginger will be graduating from Cabrini College in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communications. During her years at Cabrini, Ginger pursued one of her major passions in college: the music industry. On WYBF, the college radio station, she participated as an on-air personality and held executive and event-planning staff positions. Ginger also filmed various touring bands for Floating Boy Media, a production company started by Cabrini alumnus Seth Kline. She also worked as an assistant sound tech for Toner Sound/Eventions, a company that specializes in live sound in the Philadelphia area. Using the skills she gained through these endeavors, Ginger obtained an internship with Evolve Strategies, a multimedia campaigning company that provides media advertising for nonprofit, public awareness and political agencies including the Sierra Club, American Civil Liberties Union and the Philadelphia Parks Alliance. Ginger is currently working in video and post production with the Evolve team to develop media campaign materials for Philadelphia Democratic candidates in the May 2007 primary elections. Following graduation Ginger hopes pursue an occupation in the video production field.

Kim • Marketing Intern • Markitects, Inc.
Kim will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication and also a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Cabrini College. She has focused on marketing within her English and communication major. She is a athlete on Cabrini’s women’s volleyball team and is also a member in Psi Chi (the Psychology Honors Society), the Cabrini College Honors Program, and the Cabrini College Honors Society. She has been interning for Markitects, Inc. since January 2007. Markitects specializes in building superior brand names that allow technology and science companies to reach new heights. The company uses a strategic positioning and branding process that brings companies to the forefront of their market. At Markitects, Kim hopes to gain hands-on exposure to various marketing tools and develop sound marketing research skills in order to properly assess target audiences. Upon graduation, Kim plans to attend graduate school in order to pursue her education within communication and hopes in the future to teach at the college level. Professionally, Kim plans to enter the job world by securing a career with an advertising agency doing copywriting and creative development.

Ashley • marketing communication intern • Advanced Telecom Services
Ashley will be graduating in May with a degree in English and communication. She spent two years working on her college student-run newspaper, one year as a staff writer and one year as the features section editor. She is currently interning for Advanced Telecom Services as a marketing assistant where she is utilizing her writing, graphic design, and organizational skills on a daily basis. One of her goals for her internship is to learn how to improve the company websites using search engine optimization. After graduation, Ashley hopes to be hired by a marketing firm or to write for different publications.

Amanda • intern • Century 21 Alliance
Amanda will be graduating in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and communication from Cabrini College. Her spring internship is with Century 21 Alliance, a real estate office. She is assisting the manager and support staff in the day-to-day running of the business. She is learning about all the different departments of the office. She is working with the bookkeeping department and the conveyancing department. She will also be working with the receptionist and with the administrative assistant. She will be assisting the manager in writing up weekly ads for the newspaper.
