Healthy Monday is a non-profit public-health organization founded in 2005 in association with Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, and Syracuse University.
Their goal is to end chronic preventable disease in the U.S. by offering people and organizations a weekly prompt to start and sustain healthy behaviors, intentions, actions, and initiatives.
Cabrini College launched our own Healthy Monday program in the Fall of 2009 with numerous students, staff, and faculty participating in the program.
Program Philosophy: Why Monday? For most Americans, the week begins on Monday. We move from the freedom of the weekend back to the structure of work or school. We set our intentions for the next six days. We plan ahead and evaluate progress.
From an early age, we internalize this rhythm, and studies suggest we are more likely to maintain behaviors begun on Monday throughout the week. That makes Monday the perfect day to make a change for your health and the health of our planet.
