Cabrini students, faculty, and staff of all shapes and sizes proudly strutted the runway to promote love for our bodies and for ourselves.
The show also included poetry, dance, music, video, and comedy. Gracelina outfitted the models, with their fun, funky, and elegant items and made a donation from the proceeds of their sales benefitting the Body Image Coalition. For more information about Gracelina’s “Inspired Accessories at Fashionable Prices,” visit www.gracelina.com. Sodexo, Cabrini’s dining services partner, donated delicious food for the event, free for all attending. See the Life-size Barbie, built according to how she would actually look if she were human-sized! Barbie is currently on display outside of Founder's Hall, Room 95.
This year's show was dedicated to “vulnerable people” who are being deeply and dangerously impacted by the diet, fashion, cosmetic, exercise, plastic surgery, and toy industries (all of us). Those in attendance learned how the fashion industry is distorting our image of beauty and how we can change it. Dr. Michelle Filling, Assistant Professor of Cabrini’s English Department, will offered her reflections about these important issues through the lens of her academic expertise in women’s studies. This fabulously educational event was open to the public, all were welcome, and admission was free. |
