The Brandywine Valley is a scenic area that is home to historic mansions, famous painters, lush gardens, and excellent restaurants. The Brandywine Garden Tour, led by assistant professor of English Michelle Filling, will take incoming students to the mansion of Henry Francis duPont, “Winterthur,” and the 60-acres of gardens on the property. We will have lunch at Styer’s Garden Café at Terrain and dine on local, organic, seasonal food in a serene antique greenhouse. We will also tour Longwood Gardens, where we will escape to giant tree houses, relaxing fountains, and one of the world’s greatest greenhouse conservatories. Students will get to take home a potted plant to decorate their rooms. This excursion will allow students to relax and meet other new Cabrini students in the gorgeous surroundings of the botanical gardens of the Brandywine River Valley. |
