RADNOR, Pa. (March 16, 2012) – Cabrini defeated Illinois Wesleyan University 81 to 78 in the national semifinal on Friday, March 16, and became the first Cabrini team in history to advance to the Championship game.
The Cavaliers finished the year with a 31-2 record, which included a 22-game winning streak and the conference’s first perfect regular season (18-0) since 1993-94.
After a 78-58 win over the University of Scranton to win the Middlebury sectional on Saturday, March 10, the Cavaliers made the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s second appearance in the Final Four.
On Wednesday, March 14, Cavalier fans attended a send-off “pep rally” at the Dixon Center to wish the men’s basketball team well.
Fan buses of students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends made their way to Virginia to cheer on the Cavaliers. Cavalier fans not able to attend the games in person attended free on-campus screening parties.
The players and coaches met with students from West Salem Elementary School as part of the NCAA Final Four festivities, talking about their lives, education, and of course basketball.
