RADNOR, Pa. (May 5, 2009) – Jaiquann Beckham, an honors student at Christiana High School in Newark Delaware who plans to enroll at Cabrini in fall 2009, was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show today. Beckham was among four Delaware high school students who learned on the show that their college education would be funded.
Grammy-winning recording artist will.i.am appeared in the segment to announce that the students will be the first recipients of will.i.am's "i am" scholarship, which will cover tuition, books, and room and board for four years.
A resident of Wilmington, DE, Beckham is a three-year varsity letter winner in cross country, winter and spring track. He is a member of the school record-holding 4x800 meter relay, the 2007-08 Flight A Championship Spring Track team, and the 2008 Cross Country District Championship Team.
Beckham is vice president of the International Club at Christiana High, and helps prepare food at a Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington. He attended Cabrini's Accepted Students Day on April 18.
