Dr. James Hedtke, chair of the History and Political Science department, will deliver "Ely Parker: One Real American," at the Norwood Historical Society on Thursday, Sept. 25.
The lecture is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at 10 West Cleveland Ave. in Norwood.
Parker was Ulysses S. Grant's secretary during the Civil War; Parker is featured in Dr. Hedtke's book, Civil War Professional Soldiers, Citizen Soldiers, and Native American Soldiers of Genesee County, New York: Ordinary Men of Valor (The Edwin Mellen Press, 2006).
