Francine Clement, a junior sociology major at Cabrini College, recently received a $1,000 Commonwealth Good Citizen Scholarship from the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania.
Clement received the award for her extraordinary service and extracurricular activities at Cabrini.
Clement was executive director of Cabrini's Up 'til Dawn program, which is part of a nationwide collegiate organization that raises money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
She also traveled to West Virginia during Cabrini's Spring Break Search Program to help rebuild a house for a family whose home had been damaged, assisted in Cabrini's Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund and Hunger and Homelessness Campaign, tutored in a Cabrini-Norristown partnership classroom, and was active in Cabrini's Campus Ministry.
Clement plans on continuing to be involved in service projects at Cabrini.
"I think it is important for students to be involved with their campus," said Clement. "I not only meet new people, but have new experiences that I can take with me."
