Congress and the Nation

This database allows you to search or browse by topic the eleven volumes of Congress and the Nation. Congressional decisions, trends and documents dating back to 1945 are included and explained.

CQ Researcher

CQ Researcher provides in depth coverage of current events and issues. Original reports are searchable or browsable by topic or date. Other features include an issue tracker; this provides links to a series of reports on a single topic, including reports from the CQR Archive that date back to the early 1900s. The pro/con feature provides opinions from two experts on a given issue and displays them side-by-side for easy comparison.

Historic Documents

This online version of the Historic Documents series is searchable and browsable by topic or title. It includes the important documents of each year since 1972 including presidential speeches, Supreme Court decisions, scientific findings and international agreements. Each document in this collection is prefaced with an added overview of the historical and intellectual context for the document; the document itself appears unchanged.

Historical New York Times

The Historical New York Times provides digital reproduction of every page of NYT from 1851-2006, including graphics and photographs.

JSTOR

JSTOR is a multidisciplinary database that aims to make the archives of scholarly work from all disciplines accessible. It is a good place to start your research; your search results will most likely contain materials from sources you wouldn't have thought to search on your own. Using the advanced search option to limit your results is especially important in JSTOR as it is a multilingual database. You can also limit your search by subject or journal title.

Military & Government Collection

Military and Government Collection offers current news about all branches of the military and the US government, including intelligence agencies. Citations and abstracts are available for the leading academic journals and other periodicals in the field with links to the full text of many articles. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

Project Muse

Focusing primarily on the humanities and social sciences, Project Muse is a largely full text database. Though you will have no trouble finding articles relating to general subjects here, such at the classics or literature, Project Muse shines in its coverage of less often studies subject such as Iberian studies, population studies and book history. Search by keyword or browse the journals by title, subject headings or discipline.

ProQuest Military Collection

This collection covers topics relating to all government and military branches including criminology, aeronautics, defense, civil engineering and more. ProQuest Military Collection is primarily a full-text database. It includes back files for certain key titles, such as Leatherneck and Foreign Affairs, that date back to the 1920s making this a wonderful database for military history research as well. ProQuest Military Collection can be searched with any other ProQuest database.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center provides full-text coverage of current social issues. The main goal is to provide a balance of opinions on these issues through original pro and con articles, articles from academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers, podcasts, statistics and more. Browse popular topics or search by keyword. When searching use the advances search to limit your results to peer-reviewed publications or to the intermediate or advanced content level. Opposing Viewpoints is also a series that we carry in print; add "opposing viewpoints" in the series box in your Cavalog searches to find relevant materials in print.

ProQuest Research Library

ProQuest Research Library provides citations and/or full-text access to 3,000+ scholarly journals and magazines in a wide range of subject areas. In addition to general interest publications, the database covers the Arts, Business, Children, Education, Health, Humanities, Law, Military, International and Multicultural interests, Psychology, Sciences, Social Sciences, and Women's Interests.
