Subject Specific Databases

Humanities International Index

Humanities International Index provides citations and abstracts to articles, essays, reviews and other reference sources in the humanities. You can limit your search results to only full text items by checking the "Linked Full Text" box on the advanced search screen. All other articles can be requested through interlibrary loan. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier or other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

Literature Resource Center

Searchable by author's name or title of a work, the Literature Resource Center includes criticisms, biographies, bibliographies, work overviews, relevant web sites, journal articles, reading lists and some full-text of an author's work. Authors are also browsable by type and literary movement or period. A literary-historical timeline is also provided, as is access to Gale's Encyclopedia of Literature.

MLA Bibliography

MLA International Bibliography gives citations and abstracts for journals, series, and books, many also include links to articles in full text. MLAIB is one of the largest databases you can use when researching language and linguistics, literature, literary theory and criticism. Use the options under "Limit your search," especially the language and full text options, for more relevant results. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and Humanities International Index by clicking "Choose Databases."

The main goal is to provide a balance of opinions on these issues through original pro and con articles, articles from academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers, podcasts, statistics and more. Browse popular topics or search by keyword. When searching use the advances search to limit your results to peer-reviewed publications or to the intermediate or advanced content level. Opposing Viewpoints is also a series that we carry in print; add "opposing viewpoints" in the series box in your Cavalog searches to find relevant materials in print.
