African American Newspapers, 1827-1998

This database provides online access to approximately 270 U.S. newspapers chronicling a century and a half of the African American experience. This unique collection features papers from more than 35 states—including many rare and historically significant 19th century titles. Newly digitized, these newspapers published by or for African Americans can now be browsed and searched as never before.

ATLA Religion

Produced by the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), coverage in this database begins in 1908, with indexing for some journal titles extending back into the nineteenth century. Full text is provided for articles and reviews from more than 300 journals selected by leading religion scholars.

 

Business Source Premier

Communication & Mass Media Complete

This database combines the content of CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index, two of the premier indexes for communications journals. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

CQ Researcher

CQ Researcher provides in depth coverage of current events and issues. Original reports are searchable or browsable by topic or date. Other features include an issue tracker; this provides links to a series of reports on a single topic, including reports from the CQR Archive that date back to the early 1900s. The pro/con feature provides opinions from two experts on a given issue and displays them side-by-side for easy comparison.

Credo Reference

Credo Reference brings together information from over 100 reference books ranging from encyclopedias to bilingual dictionaries to chronologies to the Bible. You can search everything in the Credo Reference library, search only a specific subject, or search within a single title. Individual titles are also browsable.

Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full Text

This database includes bibliographic records and full text of the essential journals related to criminal justice and criminology. The comprehensive database features over 580 journals.

Education for Justice - Catholic Social Teaching

Education for Justice offers resources on Catholic Social Teaching including lesson plans, fact sheets, discussion guides, and reflections on current events. Education for Social Justice offers both print and multimedia resources.

Education Research Complete

Education Research Complete provides bibliographic and full text access to a range of education journals. Topics include all levels of education, educational specialties, testing, administration, policy and more. This database of streaming video offers access to curriculum focused content and includes material on Humanities & Social Science, Business & Economics, Science & Mathematics, Health & Medicine and Archival Films & Newsreels.

GreenFILE

The information presented in GreenFILE focuses on the relationship between human beings and the environment. This is well-researched information, but it is still accessible to non-science researchers. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."

HealthSource

Health Source provides mainly full text access to the leading scholarly journals focusing on the medical disciplines. The Lexi-PAL Drug Guide is also included and provides patient education sheets for generic and brand name medications. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

HighWire Press

This multidisciplinary database, a division of the Stanford University Libraries, is a good place to start your research. All of the articles are from peer-reviewed, scholarly journals, and most are available in full text. Use the "My HighWire" feature to set up preferences including "favorite" journals and search alerts.

Historical New York Times

The Historical New York Times provides digital reproduction of every page of NYT from 1851-2006, including graphics and photographs.

Humanities International Index

Humanities International Index provides citations and abstracts to articles, essays, reviews and other reference sources in the humanities. You can limit your search results to only full text items by checking the "Linked Full Text" box on the advanced search screen. All other articles can be requested through interlibrary loan. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier or other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

JSTOR

JSTOR is a multidisciplinary database that aims to make the archives of scholarly work from all disciplines accessible. It is a good place to start your research; your search results will most likely contain materials from sources you wouldn't have thought to search on your own. Using the advanced search option to limit your results is especially important in JSTOR as it is a multilingual database. You can also limit your search by subject or journal title.

Lexis-Nexis Academic

LexisNexis is your gateway to just about any news service you can think of. It provides access, in full text, to major US and world publications (including non-English), news wires, tv and radio broadcasts, legal publications, SEC filings, company reports and web publications and blogs from trusted news sources.

Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts

LISTA provides abstracts and citations to the leading journals in library and information science with some links to full text articles. You can limit your search results to only full text items by checking the "Linked Full Text" box on the advanced search screen. All other articles can be requested through interlibrary loan. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

MarketResearch.com

Use MarketResearch.com to find demographic and psychographic information for marketing and examples of marketing plans for service or product types. Browse by topic or search by keyword. Though you can use MarketResearch.com by going directly to their website, you must go through this database page to have access to full text documents.

MAS Ultra - School Edition

MAS Ultra - School Edition collects articles from magazines aimed at high schoolers and makes them searchable. Biographies, maps and flags, reference books and a large collection of photographs are also available. Select the Lexile range for your students' reading level under "Limit your results." The information in MAS Ultra - School Edition is aimed at high school students and can be searched in conjunction with EBSCO Animals, Primary Search, History Reference Center and Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia by clicking "Choose Databases."

Mental Measurements Yearbook

Mental Measurements Yearbook is a comprehensive guide to contemporary testing instruments in such fields as psychology, education, business and leadership. Select a testing category or publication date under "Limit your results" for more relevant search results. Click "Choose Databases" to select other relevant databases such as Academic Search Premier, PsycARTICLES and PsycINFO.

Military & Government Collection

Military and Government Collection offers current news about all branches of the military and the US government, including intelligence agencies. Citations and abstracts are available for the leading academic journals and other periodicals in the field with links to the full text of many articles. MLA International Bibliography 

MLA International Bibliography gives citations and abstracts for journals, series, and books, many also include links to articles in full text. MLAIB is one of the largest databases you can use when researching language and linguistics, literature, literary theory and criticism. Use the options under "Limit your search," especially the language and full text options, for more relevant results. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and Humanities International Index by clicking "Choose Databases."

Newspaper Source

Newspaper Source provides searchable, full text access to almost 200 national and international newspapers. Additionally, major regional newspapers and transcripts from television's major news networks are also provided. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and other databases by clicking "Choose Databases."

New York Times  

Full text (no pictures) access to the New York Times 1980 - Present. Browse specific issues or search by topic.

Oxford English Dictionary

The Oxford English Dictionary provides current and historical definitions of words from across the English-speaking world, not just in the United States. For most entries, variant spellings, etymology, quotations and a date chart are available.

Peace Research Abstracts

The index contains more than 224,000 records, which are carefully selected from the most important sources within the discipline, such as: Journal of Peace Research, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Journal of Refugee Law, etc.

Primary Search

Primary Search provides full text access to the content of popular magazines for elementary school students as well as the Encyclopedia of Animals and the current edition of American Heritage Children's Dictionary. PsycARTICLES

PsycARTICLES is the premier database for access to full text articles from scholarly and scientific psychology journals. Limit your results by population group and characteristics for more relevant results. This database uses the APA's Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms; select "Thesaurus" at the top of the screen for searchable and browsable access. You can also search PsycARTICLES in conjunction with PsycBOOKS, PsycINFO and Academic Search Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."

PsycINFO

PsycINFO provides citations and abstracts for millions of journals articles, books, book chapters and dissertations in psychology, many with links to the full text of the document. The psychological aspects of other disciplines are also covered such as pharmacology, linguistics, sociology and education. You can also search PsycINFO in conjunction with PsycARTICLES, PsycBOOKS and Academic Search Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."

PsycTESTS

PsycTESTS serves as a repository for the full text of psychological tests and measures as well as a rich source of structured information about the tests. A wide variety of test types are included in PsycTESTS, including achievement and aptitude tests, intelligence tests, tests of cognitive functioning, occupational tests, personality tests, and so on.

PubMed

PubMed provides access to citations from biomedical literature, many with links to full text documents. MEDLINE, the premier bibliographic database for the life sciences, is accessible through PubMed and dates back to 1950. Use the Journals Database to search for journal articles by subject relating to the biomedical field and other life sciences, or use the drop down menu on the first page to search proteins, genomes, cancer chromosomes and more.

Regional Business News

Regional Business News provides exactly what it sounds like it would: full text access for regional business periodicals. For us, this means that most major and regional business periodicals published in the United States are accessible. This database can be searched in conjunction with Academic Search Premier and Business Source Premier by clicking "Choose Databases."

Social Work Abstracts

Social Work Abstracts provides citations and abstracts for the leading social work and human services journals, many with links to full text. Produced by the National Association of Social Workers, this database covers such subjects as addiction, education, mental health, therapy, child and family welfare and more. SocINDEX with Full Text

SocIndex with Full Text provides full text access to hundreds of journals, books and conference papers. Citations and abstracts are provided for many more, and these can be requested in full text through interlibrary loan. Primarily a sociology database, SocIndex also covers the leading journals in related fields such as criminology and criminal justice, demography, religion, social work, socio-cultural anthropology, political sociology, social psychology and the list goes on. Violence & Abuse Abstracts
