Cabrini College - Information Technology & Resources
Services & Systems

To casual observers there are only a few computers running the show. When asked, most people can think of the email and the web servers. In truth there are many more servers strategically located either on Cabrini's campus or at Drexel University's Center City campus, depending on their function. Whenever possible and feasible, servers are relocated to the Drexel campus where support is provided 24x7x365.

Most of these computers are small, single-purpose, Intel-based servers from a diverse amount manufacturers.. Of course, "small" is a relative term. These machines are quite powerful and are well equiped to handle the services Cabrini's campus needs. These machines manage functions for the web, databases and file services for the campus community.

The rest of the computers not located on campus are housed and maintained by Drexel engineers. Some of the services Drexel provides include email, Banner and Cabrini One campus portal. But they also provide a number of less visible services. Services like DNS, DHCP and other "behind the scenes" essentials. They are an integral part of Cabrini College's Services and Systems.
