Email Quota FAQ

The email quota is the amount of email, including attachments, that a user can store on the central email server. If the assigned allocation is filled up, no new mail can be stored in the account Inbox.

CabriniOne/Webmail/IMAP Quota FAQ

What is the current quota on CabriniOne/Webmail/IMAP mailboxes?

The current default quota for an IMAP cabrini.edu email account is 100MB.

What is the maximum size for email attachments?

The maximum size of any email attachment is 25MB. This is a system-wide transmission limit common to all users; it cannot be increased.

How do I know how much space I have used?

The current status of your quota can be seen when you log into http://mail.cabrini.edu in the top left hand corner.

How can I get under my quota limit?

The first thing to try is deleting items from your mailbox. You may wish to start by accessing your email through a web browser and emptying your Trash folder by right-clicking it.

You also can click the Size column to sort your emails by size and delete the largest ones first (Note: MB are bigger than kB); then empty your Trash folder. This is the quickest way to get under your quota limit.

Outlook users may want to consider archiving their older email messages. You can find more information on Microsoft's website: Archive Items Manually, or by contacting the Help Desk.

Please note: Only faculty and staff members at Cabrini College are permitted to request an exchange account due to licensing restrictions.

What is the current quota on Exchange mailboxes?

The current default quota in an Exchange Cabrini email account is 1GB.

What is the maximum size for email attachements?

What happens if my mailbox is over quota?

If your mailbox is over quota you will be required to delete or archive emails to bring your mailbox within acceptable limits. If you need help determining your file sizes, current usage, or how to delete and archive, please contact ITR for assistance.

Exchange users will be able to receive new email messages but they will not be able to send any new messages until they have decreased their mailbox usage.

IMAP/Webmail/CabriniOne users will not be able to recieve new email if they are over quota.

How do I know how much space I have used?

The current status of your quota can be found by logging into http://exchange.cabrini.edu and hovering the mouse over your name in the top left corner. This feature is only be available when using Internet Explorer.

How can I get under my quota limit?

The first thing to try is deleting items from your mailbox. You may wish to start by accessing your email through Internet Explorer or through Outlook and emptying your Deleted Items folder by right-clicking it and selecting Empty Folder.

In Outlook, you can click the arrow to the left of Search Folders in your mailbox to view and delete Large Mail (Note: MB are bigger than kB); then empty your Deleted Items folder. This is the quickest way to get under your quota limit.

Please note: Once email is manually archived, it is removed from the Exchange Server and no longer backed up. We recommend keeping the archive file on your computer and a another location, such as an external hard drive.
