Will Common Core better prepare students for college and the working world?
Join Dane Linn ’83, vice president for the Business Roundtable and co-leader in the development of Common Core State Standards, in an exploration of this topic.
With a panel of alumni educators, Linn will discuss the origin and advantages of Common Core, while also exploring best approaches in utilizing the curriculum to equip students for the future.

Domestic Violence Symposium:
Keeping Children Safe – Child Victims of Domestic Violence
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 - 5:30–8 p.m. in the Mansion
Educators should be aware that their students may be exposed to domestic violence, which can affect students’ language skills, attention to classroom tasks, and ability to process verbal information, among other challenges.
At this panel discussion and workshop, educators will learn indicators that a child may be suffering trauma, and how to respond effectively. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance to present to their school employer for potential professional development hours.
