Adult Learner Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Judith M. Bradley, Cabrini’s former director of adult academic services, and Stephen M. Highsmith CE ’88, former Cabrini College trustee, to assist matriculated students 25 years or older in completing a higher education degree. AICUP Good Citizen Scholarship
The Good Citizen Scholarship is made possible by two endowments established by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. These scholarships are reserved for students who have shown extraordinary commitment to community service and who have demonstrated creativity in sharing their volunteer activities. Alumni Association Scholarship
The Alumni Association Scholarship was established by alumni and friends of the College. It is awarded to a student entering his or her junior year who has demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular activities, or work experience. John J. Barclay Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Barclay family in 1997 after the untimely death of John J. Barclay, who served as Cabrini’s vice president of finance and administration for many years. This scholarship helps further the education of deserving students. The Michael Beauchemin Scholarship for Mathematics Study
This scholarship is awarded to the Robert McGee Scholar. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Katherine Domenick, mother of Michael P. Beauchemin ’03, combined with the generous gifts from donors who contributed in honor of Robert McGee, a member of the mathematics faculty for 35 years. The scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates academic excellence in mathematics at Cabrini. Jane Schwartz Benjamin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1972 by the late Edwin R. Benjamin to honor his wife, Dr. Jane Schwartz Benjamin. Dr. Benjamin provided leadership to maintain high academic standards as chair of Cabrini’s History Department. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time history/political science student. Daniel J. and Mary D. Bergen Communication Scholarship
Because of their strong passion for and commitment to the field of journalism, this scholarship was established in 1999 by Daniel and Mary Bergen to assist students who have selected journalism as their field of study. The Rebecca H. Bradbeer Social Work Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 1992 for the 35th anniversary of the founding of Cabrini College. The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus gifted the College with funds to establish a scholarship to assist deserving students who would otherwise be unable to pursue a higher education. Members of the Class of 1969 endowed this scholarship in honor of their 40th reunion. It is given to a student who demonstrates a dedication to being a positive agent of change at Cabrini and in the community. The Comcast Communications Scholarship
The Comcast Communications Scholarship was established by Comcast Cable and is awarded to a student who is majoring in communications. The Martha Dale Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the generosity of alumni, faculty, friends, family and colleagues of Martha Dale on her retirement as director of alumni relations at Cabrini College, a position she held for 26 years. This scholarship is awarded to full-time juniors or seniors who are in good academic standing. Dr. John E. DeTurck Scholarship
This scholarship was established by biology alumni to honor Dr. John DeTurck’s 26‑year career at Cabrini. It is awarded to an upperclassman majoring in biological sciences. Edith Robb Dixon Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Cabrini College in 1999 to honor Edith Robb Dixon’s years of service as she retired from the Board of Trustees. It is awarded to a junior or senior who has a sports or fitness-related major. Denise Edwards Memorial Scholarship
Established by her parents, George and Carol Ann Edwards, and sustained by the family, friends and classmates of the late Denise Edwards ’92, this scholarship was named in memory of Denise and the spirit she exemplified. The award is made to a worthy and deserving senior. The Felicia Falcone Memorial Scholarship
Established by her parents, Joe and Angie Falcone, and sustained by family and friends, this scholarship was named to remember the late Felicia Falcone ’91. Felicia is remembered for her dedication to Cabrini student government, campus ministry, yearbook, newspaper, and radio station, and for the many hours she volunteered in the community. It is awarded to a junior or senior English and Communication major, who demonstrates Felicia’s same enthusiasm and commitment. The Thelma Gardinier Arts Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2000 through the generosity of the late Thelma Gardinier, who had a love of the arts. Preference in awarding this scholarship is given to a junior or senior enrolled in the studio arts or graphic design program. The William Randolph Hearst Scholarship
This scholarship was established through a grant received in 2001 by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation for the purpose of endowing a scholarship to broaden educational access for African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Native American students with the subsequent result of increasing minority teachers nationwide. This scholarship was established in 1987 to honor Mother Ursula’s 90th birthday and is awarded to students majoring in chemistry. The Mrs. Anna C. Kruse Scholarship
This annual scholarship award will honor professor emeritus Mrs. Anna C. Kruse, a mentor and beloved faculty member of Cabrini College. This scholarship will be established through the generosity of Mrs. Suzanne Horn Ganse, a 1971 alumna of Cabrini College, and her husband, Mr. Gerald Ganse. It is their intention to recognize a rising senior who demonstrates academic excellence in the biological sciences. The Andrew and Patricia Litavec Education Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Andrew and Patricia Litavec after Andrew retired from 36 years of teaching at Cabrini College. The scholarship is awarded to juniors or seniors enrolled in elementary education, early childhood education, or special education programs and who are in good academic standing. The Charles A. Mastronardi Service and Leadership Award
This scholarship was established by Margaret Mastronardi ’61 with Ruth Mastronardi Baldovin ’67, and funding from the Charles A. Mastronardi Foundation. The prestigious award, which is presented on Cabrini Spirit Day, creates new opportunities for current students to acquire the intellectual skills to succeed in chosen professions, as well as the experience to learn the importance of caring for one another and promoting the common good. Marilyn Meola Mazzarulli ’59 established this scholarship in 1999. It was the first named scholarship funded by an alumna. Patience Cavanagh McFadden Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Cavanagh family in memory of Patience Melville Cavanagh McFadden ’63. It is awarded to a student who shows a sincere concern for the well-being of others and demonstrates academic excellence. Media Chapter of UNICO National Scholarship
The Media Chapter of UNICO National is an organization that works to support individuals who share their philosophy of “Service Above Self.” This scholarship is awarded to a student who embodies this characteristic. Peter S. and Catherine G. Mozino Scholarship
This scholarship was endowed through the Peter S. and Catherine G. Mozino Foundation by Catherine G. Mozino. It is awarded to students of Italian descent. The Thomas P. and Jill Nerney Leadership in Community Service Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Thomas P. Nerney ’77 and Jill Chambers Nerney ’77 to promote the “education of the heart.” It recognizes a student who, by the end of his or her first year, has exhibited active and sustained leadership in service and outreach programs. The scholarship is sponsored by the Center for Service and Leadership at the Wolfington Center. The Agnes Bosco Orsatti Memorial Scholarship
The late Arnold Orsatti, father of Cabrini alumna Agnes Orsatti Armao ’63, established this scholarship in 1998 in memory of his wife, Agnes Orsatti. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time female student in good academic standing. The Michelle Perna ’75 English and Communication Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the generosity of Michelle Perna ’75 and her husband, Dr. James Devine, in honor of Michelle’s mother, Marie G. Perna; her mentor, Elizabeth Grimmie Wisniewski ’66; and Communication Department Chair Dr. Jerry Zurek. The scholarship is awarded to a female undergraduate majoring in English and Communication, who exhibits academic excellence, with preference given to a student from New Jersey. Sister Regina Peterson Social Work Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the efforts of the Cabrini College Social Work Department to honor Sister Regina Peterson, MSC, who founded the College’s social work program. The scholarship is awarded to upperclass students in good academic standing who have been accepted into the social work program. Philopatrian Scholarship
The Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute founded this scholarship in the 1950s to promote a Catholic education. It is awarded to a student of Catholic faith who exemplifies commitment to academic success. John Remley Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Ruby Remley in recognition of John Remley. Its purpose is to provide assistance for a student. The scholarship will be awarded to full-time students with special consideration to students who major in business. The Ruth Richardson Memorial Scholarship
The Richardson family established this scholarship to honor Ruth Richardson ’86, a 31-year employee of Cabrini College. It is awarded to students in good academic standing who are enrolled in elementary education, early childhood education, or special education programs. Charles and Delphine Sbarboro Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1985 by Delphine Sbarboro to honor her husband, Charles. Delphine passed away in January 1998 and her children, Delphine Sbarboro Pape ’61 and Charles Sbarboro, endowed the scholarship and renamed it to honor both of their parents. The scholarship is awarded to business majors and education majors. M. Antoinette Schiesler Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created in 1996 to memorialize former Cabrini College Academic Dean M. Antoinette Schiesler, by her husband, Reverend Dr. Robert Schiesler, and the contributions of family and friends. It is awarded to a female student of African-American or Hispanic descent. Preference is given to an upper-class student majoring in education who demonstrates a proficiency in her studies, a determination to succeed, a maturing sense of self, and well-rounded personality. This scholarship was established in 1971 by Toni Linder in memory of her late husband, Lawrence Sedler, to honor his work as a philosophy professor at Cabrini College. It is awarded to a student majoring in philosophy. Greater Philadelphia UNICO Chapter Elena A. Santora Scholarship
This scholarship was established through the Greater Philadelphia UNICO Chapter. It is awarded to an incoming freshman or returning student, with preference giving to students of Italian descent and good academic standing. UPS Scholarship
The UPS Foundation has provided scholarships to Pennsylvania’s Independent colleges and universities through the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE) for over 30 years. Cabrini College awards the UPS Scholarship to deserving students annually. The Waterloo Gardens Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Zelinda LeBoutillier, a trustee of Cabrini College and CEO of Waterloo Gardens, Inc. It is awarded to full-time students who are in good academic standing. W.W. Smith Scholarship
The W.W. Smith Charitable Trust Scholarship was established by a bequest in the will of William Wikoff Smith, former president and CEO of Kewanee Industries, who died in 1976. It was the intention of Mr. Smith to support students in the Delaware Valley. He was extremely dedicated to this area and generously gave his resources to benefit those who live and work here. He hoped to pass onto future generations the importance of education, giving to others, and supporting the community.
We are pleased to announce that the following scholarships have been established and were awarded this academic year for the first time. The Barry D. and Rebecca E. Freedman Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes Rebecca E. Freedman and her late husband, Barry D. Freedman, and their love for print, typography, and graphic and web design. A graphic design student demonstrating a strong interest in web design or print production, and involvement in design or arts-related extracurricular activities will be the recipient of this award. Preference will be given to full-time juniors or seniors residing in Philadelphia. The Maguire Scholars Program
James Maguire and The Maguire Foundation selected Cabrini College as one of five colleges and universities to participate in The Maguire Scholars Program, which provides a $25,000 need-based scholarship each year to deserving students. The Maguire Scholars must reside in Maguire House in their sophomore year. The Margaret Logan Paris ’62 Scholarship Fund
Margaret Logan Paris ’62 and her husband, John J. Paris, created this scholarship for full-time students, with special consideration to students who are practicing Roman Catholics.
Dr. Joseph Romano Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship has been established through the generosity of alumni, faculty, family and colleagues of Joseph Romano in celebration of his 50 years of service to the College. The objective of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding and dedicated students who are in need of additional financial aid to complete their Cabrini education. There were over 120 donors to this scholarship.
Funds accepting gifts toward endowment: The M.L. Corbin Sicoli, Ph.D. Book Scholarship
Dr. Mary Lou Sicoli, affectionately known as Candi, came to Cabrini College in January of 1975 to teach a music course in the evening division while she was finishing her Ph.D in psychology. By 1976 she was an instructor in the education department, and in the following year she became involved with the counseling center. She also was one of the first faculty members to teach in the new M.Ed program. Over the years, she has been a wonderful influence on her many students and the entire College community. Upon her retirement, faculty, alumni, friends, and family helped to establish this scholarship that, upon endowment, will be available to assist a student who is in need of additional funds to purchase their books.
William Kuhns Memorial Scholarship
Cabrini College seeks to honor the legacy of William Kuhns, Associate Professor of Education and Director of Student Teaching, by establishing a memorial scholarship in his name. During his 36 year tenure at Cabrini College, Professor Kuhns prepared numerous students to become great teachers. Through his nurturing guidance, he helped students to realize their potential in the field of education and gave them knowledge and teaching skills that they, in turn, have brought to over 250 area schools. In June 2006, Professor Kuhns lost his battle with cancer. Since that day, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and family have diligently donated to the William Kuhns Scholarship effort. The response to the fund has been extraordinary, and contributions to date have reached $15,500, well over half of the $25,000 minimum required to establish a permanently endowed fund at the College. The recipients of the William Kuhns Scholarship will be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students majoring in education, who are in good academic standing, and have demonstrated financial need; preference will be given to students majoring in elementary education and those from single parent households.
