Students Vote, Rename Dining Hall “Cavs Corner”
RADNOR, Pa. (Jan. 13, 2012) – Cabrini students have spoken: the Marketplace in Founder’s Hall is now Cavs Corner. Students selected the new name over other options, including Cavaliers Café, during a November 2011 vote.

Women's Soccer Wins National Sportsmanship Award
RADNOR, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2012) — Yesterday, the Cabrini College women's soccer team received a Team Ethics Silver Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The award is given to teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and follow the Rules of the Game. The honor is based on the number of yellow cards teams receive from officials through the course of the season. The award consists of three levels, gold (no yellow cards), silver (less than five yellow cards) and bronze (less than 10 yellow cards).

Three Cavaliers Net All-Area Academic Honors
RADNOR, Pa. (Dec. 14, 2011) — Three Cabrini College student-athletes have been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams for the Fall 2011 athletic season.

Cabrini Lowers Tuition, Caps Price through May 2015
RADNOR, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2011) – The Board of Trustees of Cabrini College has authorized a 12.5 percent reduction in undergraduate tuition and fees, effective fall 2012, and other significant moves to ensure that students and their families can plan for college costs through May 2015.

Cabrini Professor Showcases Italian Ex-Voto Collection at NY Gallery
RADNOR, Pa. (Oct. 31, 2011) – Four dozen rare metal, silver and painted ex-votos – divine votive offerings, usually to saints – are on display at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute in New York, N.Y. The objects, which date from 1865 to 1959, are from the personal collection of Leonard Norman Primiano, Ph.D., chair and professor of religious studies at Cabrini College.

Expert on African-American History to Speak on Women, Religion, Race, and Civil Rights
RADNOR, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2011) – Bettye Collier-Thomas, Ph.D., award-winning author and expert on African-American and women’s history, presents “The Nexus: Women, Religion, Race, and Civil Rights” at Cabrini College on Thursday, Sept. 29. Dr. Collier-Thomas is this year’s Jolyon Pitt Girard Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence at Cabrini.

White House Advisor Headlines Free Domestic Violence Symposium at Cabrini, Oct. 4
RADNOR, Pa. (Sept. 2, 2011) – Lynn Rosenthal, the White House Advisor on Violence Against Women, is the distinguished speaker at Cabrini College’s domestic and dating violence education symposium on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The symposium for professionals in the field is a resource on how to identify and address domestic violence, and is part of the College’s broader initiatives on domestic violence education.

Sixth Athletic Hall of Fame Class Announced
RADNOR, Pa. (July 12, 2011) – Tim Anderlonis (1996-2000), Megan (Dillon) Grant (1993-97), former men's soccer head coach Duncan Hubley and Christy Malone (1998-01) will be inducted into the Cabrini Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in Nerney Field House at the Dixon Center. Anderlonis, Dillon, Hubley and Malone comprise the College's sixth Hall of Fame class.

College Elects Two Alumni to Board of Trustees
RADNOR, Pa. (June 8, 2011) — Cabrini College has elected two new Trustees, both graduates of the College: Nancy Costello, director of Website/Communications and Vocation Team Coordinator for the Stella Maris Province of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; and realtor Vincent Prestileo Jr. Their appointments are effective July 1.

Cabrini Again Receives National Recognition for Community Service
RADNOR, Pa. (June 1, 2011) — Cabrini College has been named to the 2010 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning and civic engagement.
Since the Honor Roll’s inception in 2006, Cabrini has seen appointment every year.

Project H.O.M.E. Founders, Springfield School Superintendent to Address Commencements
RADNOR, Pa. (April 12, 2011) — Sister Mary Scullion and Joan Dawson McConnon, co-founders of Project H.O.M.E., will receive honorary doctor of humane letters degrees at Cabrini College’s undergraduate Commencement on Sunday, May 15, with McConnon addressing bachelor’s degree candidates. James Capolupo, D.M.A., superintendent of the Springfield Delaware County School District, will address master’s degree candidates at Cabrini’s graduate Commencement later that day, and also will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree. At the 10 a.m. undergraduate Commencement, the College will award bachelor’s degrees to 342 students, while 710 students will receive master’s degrees at the 3:30 p.m. graduate Commencement. This year marks Cabrini’s 51st Commencement exercises.

Men's Lacrosse Advances in NCAA Tourney with Victory over Widener
RADNOR, Pa. (May 12, 2011)—For the fourth straight season, the Cabrini men's lacrosse team has opened its NCAA Tournament play with a victory, downing local rival Widener University, 16-9 on Wednesday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The win improves the Cavaliers' record to 4-1 all-time at home in the national tournament. The Cavaliers will play No. 3 Stevenson University on Saturday, May 14, in the NCAA Tournament Second Round. Game time against the Mustangs is to be determined.

Men's Lacrosse Wins 11th Straight CSAC Title, Hosts Widener in NCAA First Round
RADNOR, Pa. (May 9, 2011)—The Cabrini men's lacrosse team will make its 10th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, May 11 when it hosts local rival Widener University at Edith Robb Dixon Field in the first round. Game time against the Pride is to be determined.

Nancy Battaglia Gustafson ’66 Melds Her Passions for Music and Charity
RADNOR, Pa. (April 11, 2011) — Nancy Battaglia Gustafson ’66 sings to fulfill her passion for music, but sells CDs to help others in need. Gustafson, a longtime vocalist who recently released her third CD, donates all the proceeds to organizations that help those in need.

U.S. Ambassador, Nobel Peace Prize Nominee to Speak on World Hunger
RADNOR, Pa. (April 8, 2011) — Former U.S. Ambassador and three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee Tony Hall will speak at Cabrini on Monday, April 11, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Grace Hall Atrium. Since March 28, Hall has been on a fast to focus public attention on the potential effects that could result from the proposed cuts by Congress to domestic and international anti-poverty and hunger programs. Joining Hall will be Jim Wallis (president and CEO of Sojourners), David Beckmann (president of Bread for the World) and Ritu Sharma (president of Women Thrive Worldwide).

Communications Major Earns Future Scholarship from Philly Ad Club
RADNOR, Pa. (April 7, 2011) — Cabrini College student Danielle Alio, a junior communications major from North Wales, Pa., has been awarded a $5,000 “Philly’s Future” scholarship by the Philly Ad Club. Alio is one of 10 area students to receive the scholarship for outstanding academic, personal and professional accomplishments.

Local Author and Historian Presents on Religion in the Civil War March 22
RADNOR, Pa. (Feb. 16, 2011) — “A Meditation on America’s Ordeal by Fire: Religion in/and the Civil War” is the title of author and historian Dr. Randall Miller’s presentation at Cabrini College on Tuesday, March 22. Dr. Miller is the William Dirk Warren ’50 Sesquicentennial Chair and Professor of History at Saint Joseph’s University, where he has taught since 1972.

Men's Basketball Advances to NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16
RADNOR, Pa. (March 7, 2011) — The Cabrini men’s basketball team is just one of 16 teams remaining in the Division III NCAA Tournament following a come-from-behind 91-84 victory versus Skyline Conference champion SUNY-Purchase on Saturday night at Nerney Field House. The win advances the Cavaliers to a “Sweet 16” match-up at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opponent No. 5 The College of Wooster on Friday, March 11.

Veteran News Anchor Ciarrocchi to Receive Ivy Young Willis Award
RADNOR, Pa. (Feb. 8, 2011) — CBS3 news anchor Pat Ciarrocchi will receive the 2011 Ivy Young Willis Award in a ceremony at Cabrini College on March 15. Given annually, the Ivy Young Willis Award recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions in the field of public affairs.

Women’s Basketball Wins at Madison Square Garden
RADNOR, Pa. (Jan. 4, 2010) – The Cabrini women’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-0 all-time at Madison Square Garden with a thrilling 50-48 victory on Monday night against non-conference opponent Albright College. Freshman guard Brittany Sandone netted a team-high 14 points for the Cavaliers in the win.

Student Website on Domestic Violence Education Earns National Acclaim
RADNOR, Pa. (Nov. 17, 2010) — A website on domestic violence education created by communication seniors at Cabrini College earned national acclaim when it received a 2010 Silver Davey Award earlier this month. “The Children as Witness Project” convergence site (www.cabrini.edu/domesticviolence) won in the Interactive Multimedia: Education category.

Students Honored for Civic Engagement, Social Justice
RADNOR, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2010) — Three students at Cabrini College were recognized for outstanding contributions to community service and civic engagement with the Charles A. Mastronardi Service and Leadership Award. Anne Brokenborough ’11, Danielle DiBartolo ’12, and Jamie Tadrzynski ’12 received the award during the College’s Cabrini Day celebration on Nov. 9.

Cabrini Unveils Re-Designed Athletic Mascot
RADNOR, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2010) – With the start of the 2010-11 academic year, Cabrini College unveiled a re-designed mascot and mascot logo. The new look for Cabrini’s Cavalier was developed from a student-sponsored contest conducted last spring. The new mascot costume was unveiled Aug. 19, when the Cavalier and the Phillie Phanatic welcomed some 420 first-year and transfer students to Cabrini.

Cabrini Fund Giving Tops Goal, Raises $358,000 for Student Aid
RADNOR, Pa. (July 22, 2010) — More than 1,100 alumni, faculty, parents, students, staff, trustees and friends of Cabrini College contributed a total of $358,000 to the Cabrini Fund, the largest dollar amount ever raised for the Fund.
All money raised through the Cabrini Fund will be used for student financial aid.
