Laura Hancq ’13 Major: Communication Hometown: Marlton, NJ
“My transfer experience was very smooth. I came to visit Cabrini over my spring break during my freshmen year at another college. Once I sent all the materials, I got my acceptance shortly after. Transfer Student Orientation explained everything and I was able to meet my adviser and schedule the courses I wanted.
“I transferred because I was unhappy at the other college I attended. When I started to look for colleges to transfer to, I liked Cabrini because of the location and the opportunities to get involved, especially with the Communication Department.
“I’ve been fortunate to have four internships during my time at Cabrini including Connor Communication, Del Val Media, The March of Dimes Foundation, and Apple Vacations.
“I’m preparing to graduate in a few weeks, so I’m wrapping up all of my courses and my senior capstone project, which is a multimedia website.
"I’m currently looking for opportunities and in the process of interviewing for positions.”
Brandon Mincer ’13 Major: Social Work Hometown: New York, NY
“I would have to say that my transfer experience has been a great one. I didn’t have any issues like transferring credits, difficulty finding classes, or fitting in. Sometimes I don’t feel like a transfer. I feel like I’ve been here since freshman year.
“I wasn’t too sure about what I wanted to major in, so I attended community college for a few semesters. I figured that would give me a chance to explore a few options.
“I transferred because I researched some four-year schools, and Cabrini really stood out to me. I explored the Social Work program on the website and was interested in what I saw. I scheduled a tour a few weeks later, and fell in love with the campus. The faculty and students were extremely kind and welcomed me greatly.
“Now, I’m really involved in my major. I’m interning at a residential facility for children with mental disabilities.
“I’m really happy here.”
