I have a paper due in an hour! Can I just walk in?
We try to accommodate walk-ins, but there is the likelihood that you will have to wait, or there may not be an appointment available.
To ensure that you get an appointment at a time you want, sign up on the door of the Writing Center. The schedule is posted there, and you can make an appointment by writing your name on an available slot. You also may schedule an appointment by calling 610-902-8573, or emailing writingcenter@cabrini.edu.
Where is the Writing Center located?
The Writing Center is located in the Room 110 of the Iadarola Center. Walk into the lobby and make a right.
Is the appointment free?
All Writing Center appointments are free of charge to Cabrini students and staff.
What should I bring with me?
For all appointments, bring the assignment the instructor gave you. If there is no written assignment, that's okay; just bring your notes and any source materials with which you'll be working, such as books or articles. Also, bring any drafts you have written (preferably hard copies). Finally, bring your student ID.
I am terrible with grammar. Will the Writing Center help me with this?
Of course, we are always happy to answer any questions, but we will not primarily focus on grammar. A Writing Center tutor will review your paper for editing, but most of their commentary will be about the structure and content of your paper.
At the Writing Center, writers help writers. We want to help you achieve comfort with your own written voice.
Can I use the CTL computer lab to type my paper afterwards?
The computer lab is yours to use! As part of the Center for Teaching & Learning, we welcome students to stay and work with us as long as we are open.
I am told that I write very well. Can I become a tutor?
We are always looking for new tutors. Stop by to fill out an application. You will also be asked to get a faculty recommendation and undergo training.
