The Writing Center helps students use writing as a tool for learning, reflection, and career preparation. Professional and peer tutors are available and eager to help. We are writers helping writers.
All Writing Center appointments are free of charge.
We can assist with every phase of the writing process:

Shaping Discovery
brainstorming ideas, gaining inspiration, and pre-writing strategies

Building Structure
argument construction, transitions between ideas, conclusions

Using Evidence
research, source integration, and documentation

Editing for Style and Clarity
word usage, grammar, and proofreading

Other Specialized Writing as Needed
resumés, cover letters, graduate school applications
Students can meet with professional staff to prepare for the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA), Graduate Record Exam (GRE), and other specialized tests that involve writing, as well as specialized writing support on an as needed basis.
Walk-Ins
We try to accommodate walk-ins, but there is the likelihood that you will have to wait, or there may not be an appointment available.
Appointments
For all appointments, bring your assignment. If there is no written assignment, just bring your notes and any source materials you'll use, such as books or articles.
Also, bring any drafts you have written (preferably hard copies). Finally, bring your student ID.
Faculty Resources
The Writing Center is always eager to assist faculty with developing writing assignments and finding materials that will help students master the writing process.
Faculty members are welcome to stop by and peruse the resource library, and the Writing Center staff is also happy to offer

- specially tailored writing workshops
- support for writing integration into syllabi or assignments
- editorial support for professional publications
