The Exercise Science & Health Promotion major is science-based and provides students with training for careers that follow the present and future trends for health awareness and wellness.
The content of this program focuses on physical activity as a preventative discipline in maintaining good health, cardiovascular stamina, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, agility and athletic performance. The relationship between these objectives, diet and nutrition also are addressed. A secondary focus of the program is to assess the role of lifetime physical activity in offsetting the aging process and maintaining the quality of one's life.

There is a cumulative total of 66 credits associated with the Sports Science concentration. Students who choose this concentration are required to take BIO 101 (4 credits) and PHY 101 (4 credits) for their scientific literacy requirements.
There is a cumulative total of 67 credits associated with the Health and Wellness Management concentration. However, students who choose this concentration are required to take BIO 101 (4 credits) along with any other science course that fulfills their science literacy requirements.
*In order to be eligible for an off-campus internship in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, students must have a 2.5 minimum GPA in the major.
