Paul D. Ridder has been the President of Tasty Baking Company since May 2011. Prior to that, he was Tasty Baking Company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Tasty Baking Company is one of the country’s leading bakers of snack cakes, pies, cookies and donuts. The company, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, was founded in 1914 and is the manufacturer of the popular Tastykake brand.
In his role as President, Ridder is responsible for all aspects of the operations of Tasty Baking Company, including leveraging the recent merger with Flowers Foods to expand Tastykake into a national brand.
In his prior role as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Ridder had responsibility for financial reporting, taxes, treasury and accounting operations, financial analysis, internal control, strategic planning and investor relations.
In addition, he had oversight responsibility for the Company’s human resource functions. During his tenure at Tasty Baking Company, Ridder has focused extensively on process based initiatives to improve the strength, reach and profitability of the brand.
At Tasty Baking Company, Ridder restructured the Company’s credit facilities to finance the investment in the state of the art manufacturing facility constructed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. In addition, he coordinated various state and local agencies to obtain or extend tax incentives for Tasty’s Navy Yard and Oxford production facilities. He also developed and implemented the Company’s long-term manufacturing strategy to ensure optimum efficiency, as well as the process whereby Tasty Baking Company merged with Flowers Foods.
Prior to joining Tasty Baking Company in 2007, Ridder was Vice President Corporate Transactions for Radnor Holdings Corporation, a leading global manufacturer and distributor of disposable foodservice and specialty chemical products. In this role, Ridder helped to divest the company’s portfolio of manufacturing assets, including operations in the U.S., Canada, and throughout Europe.
Ridder started his career at Radnor Holdings Corporation in 1996, where he held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In these roles, Ridder executed numerous domestic and international acquisitions and raised significant growth capital through public and private debt and equity transactions. These transactions resulted in a five-fold increase in revenues through the time of the company’s divestiture.
Ridder led Radnor Holdings Corporation’s new product development and commercialization team, which created transformational new product offerings and resulted in access to new multi-billion dollar markets. In addition, Ridder led Radnor Holdings Corporation’s supply chain management, lean manufacturing initiatives and cost containment teams.
Prior to his time at Radnor Holdings Corporation, Ridder was a Senior Accountant at Price Waterhouse in Philadelphia. Ridder was in the accounting and audit services group, and serviced clients in various industries including manufacturing, consumer services, healthcare, public utilities, financial services, and not-for-profit organizations.
Ridder was also involved with recruiting for the firm and teaching at the firm’s continuing education programs. He started his career at Price Waterhouse in 1993.
Ridder is an alumnus of Bucknell University where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting. He also holds an MBA degree from the Villanova School of Business at Villanova University.
Ridder is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Pennsylvania and is a member of many organizations such as the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Executives International. He is married and has ten-year-old twins.
Ridder is an active member of the community, lends his expertise to various organizations. Currently, he serves on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Cabrini College Board of Trustees, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Moyer Foundation National Advisory Board, and the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.
Ridder’s past affiliations include serving on the board of CADEKids, a Philadelphia based organization that helps kids avoid trouble through better decision making, as well as the Allegheny West Foundation, a nationally recognized community development corporation actively involved in the revitalization of North Philadelphia’s Allegheny West neighborhood.
