A native of Long Island, New York, Nancy Gorevin Costello is a 1971 graduate of Cabrini College. Costello taught in private schools for several years at the elementary and junior high school levels, while earning a master of science degree in elementary education at West Chester University.
Costello worked in the Cabrini College Institutional Advancement office for five years, until inaugurating the office of MSC Mission Integration at the College in 1992. She was a co-founder of the Philadelphia area Catholic Collegiate Mission Consortium.
In 1997, Costello was appointed as the Stella Maris Province Director of Mission Integration, a position she held until 2005. At that time, Costello joined the Stella Maris Province Communications Office, where she currently serves as the Website/Communications Director for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She also is the coordinator of the Stella Maris Province Vocation Promotion Team.
In 2004, Costello earned a master of science degree in pastoral care and counseling with a concentration on the spirituality of organizations, from Neumann University. Additionally, she holds a certification in fundraising from the University of Pennsylvania and graduate certification in Mission Leadership Development for Catholic healthcare.
Costello has served as president of the College’s Alumni Board and, in 1985, received the College’s Martha Dale Distinguished Service Award for loyalty and dedication. Costello served a previous term on the College’s Board of Trustees from 1985–1991. She is currently a member of the Campaign Planning Committee for the College.
Active in St. Thomas of Villanova Parish, Costello is a member of the parish Stewardship Council; co-chair of the Welcome Committee; an Interfaith Hospitality Network volunteer (outreach to the temporarily homeless); and a Eucharistic Minister.
Costello assisted her husband, Tom, in founding The Joy of Sox, a 501c3 non-profit that provides new socks for homeless men, women and children in many cities across the country.
A resident of Radnor, Pa., Costello is the mother of two married children and the grandmother of four. Her husband Tom was named an Honorary Alumnus in 2011 and her daughter, Courtney, received a master’s in education from Cabrini in 2003. The Grace and Joseph Gorevin Fine Arts Gallery on campus was named in memory of Costello’s parents.
