Groundskeeper Cabrini College invites applications for the full-time position of Groundskeeper reporting directly to the Director of Facilities. The Groundskeeper will perform routine care of plantings, shrubs, lawns, athletic fields, and other campus features. Duties and Responsibilities - Plant and care for plantings, shrubs, lawns, athletic fields, using such tools and equipment as brooms, edgers, mowers, and sprayers, hoes, picks, shears, rakes, spades, spreaders, cultivating machines, sprinkling machines, tractors, and trucks
- Grade, seed, and sod lawn areas
- Plant, edge, and maintain flowerbeds
- Water, spray, fertilize, and cultivate lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Rake and dispose of leaves, twigs, and other debris
- Trim hedges
- Operate and make minor adjustments to mowers
- Detect and report evidence of disease, insects, and pests affecting trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns
- Clean and care for tools and equipment
- Assist with snow removal by shoveling, salting, sanding, and operating snow-removal vehicles and equipment (24-hour on-call during inclement weather)
- Operate and assist with routine maintenance of light- and medium-weight vehicles and equipment
- Assist in maintenance of storm-water–management systems
Qualifications - Two years of grounds maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience is preferred.
- Casual knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in gardening and grounds maintenance is necessary.
- Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
- Requires a valid Pennsylvania vehicle operator’s license.
